The July 2013 issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.consumerreports.org\/cro\/index.htm\">Consumer Reports<\/a> is dedicated to kitchen renovations, and has in depth reviews of many different styles of counter tops.  The most common materials that homebuyers are looking for is a stone based countertop.<\/p>\n<h4>Below are some of the pluses and minuses of popular countertop materials.<\/h4>\n<div  style=\"width: 100%; height: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Granite is very durable, and comes in many different colors and countours. The surface is very resistant to nicks, cuts, and stains.  It does need to be resealed every so often to maintain it&#8217;s stain resistant qualities.  Edges and corners can chip.<\/li>\n<li>Quartz is quickly becoming the surface of choice.  It is resistant to stains, and nick and cuts. It does not need to be resealed like other stone countertops.  It also comes in many different styles and colors.  Rounded edges help in not having to worry about chips on edges and corners.<\/li>\n<li>Recycled Glass has the greatest potential for different colors and textures.  Also does well in resisting stains and nicks.  It can require resealing and waxing every six months or so.<\/li>\n<li>Concrete and Stainless Steel can be used to complement an industrial looking kitchen. Certain sealers work better then others to protect against stains and nicks.
